Pentujen kehittyminen on aivan uskomatonta. Vasta viisi päivää maailmassa, ja joka päivä jotain uutta. Ruoka-ajat ovat olleet noin 2 tunnin välein, ensin alkaa se hirmuinen meteli, taistelu nisistä ja kun kaikki ovat löytäneet paikkansa rivissä, tuhinaa ja imemistä. Syönnin jälkeen tehdään muutamia venytyksiä, jotkut kiertävät laatikkoa ympäri etsien hyvää nukkumanurkkaa, toiset könyävät päällekkäin. Ja sitten yhtäkkiä hiljaisuus. Ruska viettää pentujen nukkuma ajan yleensä poissa laatikosta, sekin on nukkunut univelkojaan. Ja tänään kävimme ensimmäisellä vartin lenkilläkin, ei tuntunut synnytys missään, lähti painamaan sellaista vauhtia pellolla.

Pennuilta löytyi kaulalta paikka, josta rapsuttamalla lähtee takatassu vippasemaan;) Muutamat horjuvat askeletkin on jo koetettu ottaa, ja tänään löytyi sitten ensimmäinen pentu laatikon ulkopuolelta. En tiedä oliko kiivennyt omin avuin, vaiko suorittanut benjihypyn Ruskan nisällä.... Painot ovat nousseet hienosti ja tasaisesti kaikilla, pikkujätkä Nuoskakin kirii kovasti toisia kiinni! Ja tänään Ruska sitten toi suosikki lelunsa elefantin laatikkoon. Me täällä kauhulla odotamme milloin Ruska alkaa kurssittamaan pentuja leikkimiseen, se voikin olla menoa se...

The pups progress incredibly. They are just five days old and every day they build up something new. Now they are eating every 2 hours; beginning with a noise and fight over the tits and eventually, when they all have found their place in the row, they start sucking and puffing. When they are finished with eating, they stretch themselves and then either circle around the crate trying to find a corner to sleep in or, climb over each other. And then comes silence. Ruska usually leaves the crate when the pups are asleep; she has also slept off her debts. Today, for the first time, I took her to a fifteen minutes' walk. No signs of exhaustion in sight when she speeded on the field.

Today I found out that by scratching a certain spot in puppies' neck their hind leg starts to jiggle ;) Some of them have already tried to take their first steps and today I found the first one outside the crate. Can't say if it had climbed on its own or if it had done bungee jumping from Ruska's tit... All of the puppies are gaining weight evenly and even Nuoska the little guy is catching up the others! And today Ruska brought the elephant, her favourite toy, to the crate. We are hoping that she doesn't start to teach her puppies to play quite yet, as it will be the end of the peaceful days in this house...
